What is the Xero Shoes Alpine suitable for?
A winter boot for cold days outdoors: forest trails in the snow, frosty mornings with the dog, the walk from the parking lot to the cross-country ski trail. At around 411 g per shoe (size 42), it remains lightweight.
Warm and dry in snow and slush: The inner boot is completely seam-sealed, and a waterproof membrane is integrated into the upper material. This is complemented by 200 g of insulation and a heat-reflecting insole that shields against the cold ground.
Winter boot without the bulky feel: The 12.5 mm sole construction with zero drop keeps you closer to the ground than a classic snow boot, and the coarse lug pattern provides grip on snow and firm surfaces. A barefoot winter boot for those who want ground feel even in January.
An honest assessment: The sole remains soft and flexible. The Alpine is not designed for alpine terrain, crampons, or treks with heavy luggage.
