Skinners was born out of a makeshift solution: In Norway, founder Petr Procházka sewed a sole onto a friend's sock who had foot problems – this became Skinners Technologies from Brno. The Kickstarter campaign raised around 600,000 US dollars, followed by the Red Dot Design Award in 2017, and today Skinners are worn in over 100 countries. Production is entirely in the Czech Republic: a knitted sock with an abrasion-resistant polymer sole, phthalate-free, with a wide toe box and removable insole – washable on a gentle cycle at 30 °C and so compact that they fit into any jacket pocket.
